Drama on the quote of Swastika Chikara
On the second day of the mega auction, there was controversy during the bidding on 19-year-old opener Swastik Chikara. RCB raised the initial paddle for him at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. It seemed like they bought the player without any competition. However, soon after, Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani raised questions and said that his team had also picked up the paddle for Chikara, but the auctioneer did not see it.
Co-owner Kiran Grandhi got angry
Auctioneer Mallika Sagar admitted that she missed seeing the Delhi Capitals paddle out due to the fast pace of the auction. In such a situation, Chikara now belongs to RCB because as per the rules of the auction, once the paddle falls then it is considered as the last bid. Delhi Capitals co-owner Kiran Grandhi was not happy with the result and openly expressed his anger and disappointment over the incident.
