In the case of violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the police have registered a case against Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rehman Burke and Sohail Iqbal, son of local SP MLA Iqbal Mahmood and arrested 25 people. It is mentioned in the FIR that Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rahman Burke instigated the crowd for political gains and spoiled the communal atmosphere. Two days before the violence, MP Burke had gone to Jama Masjid without the permission of the administration.

In the FIR of Sambhal violence, accused number 1- Ziaur Rehman Burke has been made, while accused number 2- Suhail Iqbal has been made. Along with this, 700-800 unknown people have also been made accused. According to the FIR, the survey of Jama Masjid was being done on 24 November on the orders of the court, when at 9 am a crowd of 700 to 800 unknown people armed with deadly weapons came with the aim of disrupting the process of survey of Jama Masjid.

Ziaur Rahman Burke made inflammatory statements

It is mentioned in the FIR that on November 22, while offering namaz in Jama Masjid, Ziaur Rahman Barq gathered the crowd without the permission of the administration and made inflammatory statements and the crowd was incited to disturb the communal harmony to take political advantage.

Suhail Iqbal told the crowd – fulfill your plans

According to the FIR, Suhail Iqbal was present in the crowd that came to disrupt the survey process on 24 November. Suhail instigated the crowd by saying that Ziaur Rahman Burke is with us, we are with you, we will not let anything happen. Fulfill your plans, hearing this the crowd became more furious.

The angry mob pelted stones at the policemen

The police appealed to the crowd to maintain peace, but the angry crowd started shouting slogans and then pelted stones at the policemen. Not only this, police vehicles were vandalized and vehicles were set on fire. One person from the crowd fired at area officer Anuj Choudhary with the intention of killing him, in which Anuj was shot in the leg and injured.

Politics starts after violence

Let us tell you that in Sambhal, the local people had opposed the survey of the Mughal era mosque. Four people were killed in the clash between local people and security personnel. A day after the violence, opposition parties attacked the ruling BJP at the Center and Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the state government of instigating the riots, while senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the ruling party was creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims. The BJP hit back, calling the violence pre-planned and saying it was instigated by people who were surprised by the party’s rise in the country, especially after its performance in the Uttar Pradesh assembly by-elections.

Situation normal in Sambhal

There was tension in Sambhal on Monday, but there was peace. The roads around Shahi Jama Masjid were deserted, heavy police force was deployed in the entire area and patrolling was going on. Officials said traffic was normal and some shops were open.

Four people lost their lives in violence

There was a tense situation in Sambhal since November 19, when Jama Masjid was surveyed for the first time. This survey was conducted after a petition, in which it was claimed that there used to be a Harihar temple at this site. When the survey team started its work on Sunday, a large number of people gathered near the mosque and started raising slogans. The protesters clashed with security personnel, set vehicles on fire and pelted stones. 4 people died in the violence.
