Actor Allu Arjun held a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Saturday evening. During this, without taking names, he responded to the comments made in the Assembly by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi. First of all, he apologized for coming late to the press conference and said that it took him time to collect himself. Describing the stampede at Sandhya Theater as an unfortunate accident, the actor addressed the victim’s family and expressed his condolences.
He said, “I am getting updates about the child every hour. His condition is improving. The only good thing is that the child is recovering.”
He then said, “The main reason for the press meet is that there are a lot of misunderstandings, misinformation and wrong allegations. I feel extremely insulted by the character assassination. This is the time when I should be celebrating, happy but I have not been able to go anywhere for the last 15 days, legally I am tied up, I cannot go.
He said that I have done this film with all my heart. Whatever hard work I have put in in the film, I have not been able to see it completely on the screen. I haven’t even seen my film in the theatre. This is the biggest education platform for me. This is my biggest learning from how I have done the film, it is a way for me to learn how I can perform better. It is important for me to see my films in theaters so that I can learn from them. I learn by watching movies on screen.
‘I have no direct involvement in this accident’
The actor said that I learn from films but for the last 10-15 days I am sitting in my house wondering what happened, I feel that I have no direct involvement in this accident. Yes, it happened on those premises, but I am extremely sorry for what happened. When I am sitting here and then you make the comment that I said this, said that and I don’t care what happened, then by saying this, are you not promoting character assassination of me in front of the national media and in front of the public? Gave?
He said that I have worked so hard in the last 3 years, even during my audio functions, what did I tell my fans to go watch my films, shouldn’t I say that? I have made the film with the intention of increasing the pride of Telugu across the world. When I make a film with such pure intentions and you come and say I did this or I did that, I will be so hurt. I don’t mean this to anyone personally. I respect everyone, this is not any kind of personal attack or anything. What I am saying is that I am not like that and they should understand this.
‘After the completion of the film, I go to see my hard work’
Allu Arjun said that I will tell you right now what happened in the series of events. What happened was really very unfortunate. It is my responsibility to see the output of my work. It’s not just a movie, it’s just a show that is shown. Only when I look at it will I know how much hard work I have done in the last 3 years. Watching films once completed is a turning point for me and it was with this intention in mind that I went to watch the film.
‘The police themselves were clearing the crowd’
He said that there is no irresponsibility. Actually, I have been going to the same movie theater for the last 25-30 years. And to say that I went to the theater irresponsibly and without permission is absolutely wrong, nothing like that happened. We went with the knowledge that the theater authority had taken control of the situation and when we went inside, the police themselves were clearing the crowd. We understood that everything was fine and we reached as per his instructions. Many times it happens that they (police) come and tell us that we do not have permission and hence we return after listening to them. And here when they were just clearing the way for us to come forward, we were under the impression that we had permission to come into the theatre.
Telangana CM had made allegations
Let us tell you that in the Assembly, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that actor Allu Arjun attended the screening of Pushpa 2 despite not being given permission by the police. Highlighting the chaos that took place at the event, Reddy said, “The actors were standing on the sunroof of their cars and waving to the crowd before entering and exiting the theatre, due to which thousands of fans were jostling to get a glimpse of them.” -Were punching.”
AIMIM MLA had targeted
Meanwhile, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi strongly criticized Allu Arjun’s alleged insensitive behavior and lack of responsibility after the stampede during the film’s premiere in Hyderabad. Without directly naming the actor, Owaisi claimed, “As per my knowledge, when he was told about the stampede and the death of a woman, he said, ‘Now the film will be a hit’.”
He further said, “Even after the stampede incident, he (Allu Arjun) watched the film and waved to the crowd from his car while going back. He did not even bother to inquire about the well-being of those people and the family. I too have been attending public meetings. “I go where thousands of people come, but I ensure that no stampede-like incident takes place.”
Allu Arjun was arrested after the incident
Let us tell you that the stampede took place on December 4 outside Sandhya Theatre, where the premiere of Pushpa 2 was held. A large number of people gathered outside the theater to get a glimpse of Arjun, who attended the screening with his Pushpa co-stars Rashmika Mandanna and Sneha Reddy. During the stampede, a 39-year-old woman named Revathi died and her son was seriously injured. The police claimed that the theater management had not made any arrangements to handle the crowd.
After this, Allu Arjun was also arrested from his house on 13 December in connection with the stampede incident. The lower court had sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. However, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail on the same day. However, despite this, the actor had to spend a night in jail due to the delay in uploading the copy of the bail order online.
