The ED i.e. the Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet in the court against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi in the Lok Sabha in the Lok Sabha.
And in the meantime, ED is also being interrogated by Rahul Gandhi’s brother -in -law Robert Vadra. The process of seizing the properties of AJL i.e. Associated Journal Limited has already started.
In June 2022, in the National Herald case, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were called by the ED and questioned for several days. Prior to that, summons was issued against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi in June 2014. In August 2014, the Enforcement Directorate registered a case of money laundering – and in December 2015, Patiala House Court of Delhi granted bail to all the accused including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress has described the latest action of the Enforcement Directorate against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Robert Vadra as a politics of revenge. And, in the first response, it has been said by the Congress that this is nothing but threatening the Gandhi family of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
ED action against Gandhi family
The action to seize the assets of Associated Journals Limited had already started, now the ED has also filed a charge sheet against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
According to the report, the ED has taken this step against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi after investigation. The court took cognizance of the ED charge sheet on 9 April, and the date of April 25 has been fixed for hearing the case.
Along with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation trustee Suman Dubey have also been accused in the charge sheet. Actually, AJL is owned by Young Indian Private Limited. Both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi hold 76 per cent stake in the company, while 24 per cent shares are with the rest of the directors.
Meanwhile, ED is also being interrogated by Robert Vadra, husband of Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi. This inquiry is being made in the case of money laundering in a land deal related to Shikohpur in Haryana. The surprising thing is that None of Robert Vadra and Priyanka Gandhi are named in the FIR – can it be any kind of politics?
Questions arising on BJP’s zero-tolerance on corruption, and counter action
The Congress directly alleges that the ED is working at the center of the ruling BJP at the center. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also once said that the work that the public could not do, agencies like ED and CBI have done that work against the corrupt.
These questions were also arising that the BJP leadership, who talks about zero tolerance against corruption, is silent. And, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is not taking any action.
This perception against corruption was also being formed because the BJP government was considered weak due to low Lok Sabha seats, and it seemed that the action was being loose.
To remove the disappointment of the supporters, the BJP government took a step towards amending the Waqf Act, so that the message can be given that the BJP has not back down from its agenda despite the BJP not having an absolute majority on its own.
1. The question is, to what extent the Bharatiya Janata Party is thinking of going against the Congress? This step will be strict just like Arvind Kejriwal, or is it intended to leave just a little disturbed?

3. If the Congress leadership also face the same difficulties, then the competition will be difficult. So, taking lessons from your mistakes, it will be necessary to work on counter mechanism already.
4. The Congress will now have to prepare a second line of leadership, which can handle the party even in adverse conditions, and the functioning of the routine should not be affected.

To compete with ED action, the Congress has directed to perform outside ED offices in the state committees states.
