‘Neither got a government job, nor a house at any other place…’, Rahul Gandhi met the victims of Hathras incident – What did Rahul Gandhi say after meeting the family of rape victim in Hathras slams Yogi government ntc

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met the family of the rape victim in Hathras on Thursday. After this meeting, Rahul Gandhi made a post on social media platform X. He wrote, ‘The entire family is still living under the shadow of fear. They are being treated like criminals. They cannot move freely – they are kept under surveillance with guns and cameras all the time.

He further wrote, ‘The promises made to them by the BJP government have not been fulfilled till date. Neither has they been given a government job nor has the promise of shifting them by giving them a house at some other place been fulfilled. Instead of providing justice to the victim’s family, the government is torturing them in various ways. On the other hand, the accused are roaming freely. The frustration and disappointment of this family shows the truth of the atrocities being committed on Dalits by the BJP. But we will not let this family be forced to live like this. We will fight with full force to get them justice.

Let us tell you that the Hathras victim’s family had written a letter to Rahul Gandhi claiming that the promises made by the Yogi government have not been fulfilled till date. This letter was written in the name of Rahul Gandhi on July 2. After this Rahul decided to meet the family because the family had asked for his help.

For four years we have been living in a jail-like situation. Police all around the house.” When we go somewhere, the police are not allowing us to work, but we are living in a jail-like situation at home.”

What is the issue of Hathras?

On September 14, 2020, a 19-year-old Dalit girl was found injured in Boolgarhi village of Hathras. The victim reaches the local Chandpa police station with her mother and brother. In the police station, the victim’s brother alleges that Sandeep of the village has done wrong things to his sister. Seeing the deteriorating condition, the victim was taken to CHC, from where she was referred to JN Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University.

An FIR was lodged the next day of this incident on September 15, in which it was written that the victim had gone with her mother to cut fodder, when the village youth Sandeep came, dragged her and tried to murder her by strangulating her. The police also called it a family dispute and claimed that the accused would be arrested soon. The matter came to a head when, on September 19, 5 days after the incident, the victim gave a statement that Sandeep was accompanied by two other boys and he was also molested and his tongue was cut.
