Nepal Earthquake Magnitude 4 point 8 Depth 10 KM Below NTC

Earthquake of 4.8 magnitude was felt in Nepal on Saturday morning. The earthquake occurred at 3:59 pm Indian time. Its center was at a depth of 10 kilometers in Jumla district. There has been no information regarding any loss of life or property so far.

The National Center of Seismology (NCS) gave this information and also said that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers. According to USGS, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Jumla district.

Continuous earthquake shocks in Nepal

Earthquakes are common in the hilly country Nepal. Earthquake tremors were felt here on 17 and 19 December also. On December 19, tremors of 4.2 magnitude were felt at a distance of 16 kilometers from Parshe, Nepal and on December 17, tremors of 4.4 magnitude were felt at a distance of 23 kilometers from Melbisauni.

According to the USGS update till 10.29 am on December 20, a magnitude 5 tremor was recorded 62 km west northwest of Jumla. Due to this, tremors were felt in the surrounding areas till Jumla, Dipayal, Dailekh, Birendranagar and Dadeldhura.

Scary earthquake in Nepal

Nepal has faced serious earthquakes in the last few years. In November 2023 itself, more than 150 people were killed in Nepal in an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude. This earthquake caused huge devastation in Jarkot and Rukum districts of western Nepal, in which about 150 people were also injured. There were cracks in many houses and many houses were destroyed.

In 2023 itself, several earthquakes were felt continuously in Nepal in the month of October, in which the most powerful earthquake was recorded with a magnitude of 6.2. Earthquake tremors were also felt in many parts of North India including the Delhi-NCR region.

A year before this, in November 2022, six people had died after an earthquake of 6.3 magnitude struck Doti district. Earlier in 2015, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude had killed more than 12,000 people in the hilly country.
