The Pakistan Army issued a statement on Tuesday saying that it killed 30 Islamic terrorists during an encounter in Southern Waziristan near the border of Afghanistan. According to a report by news agency Reuters, the Pakistani Army said that the encounter took place during the campaign to vacate the tribal district of terrorists operating in both countries (Pakistan and Afghanistan).

Southern Waziristan is a tribal -dominated district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, which has been a safe haven for Islamic terrorists for a long time. It is considered a very chaotic region, which is out of reach of independent journalists and human rights groups, making it difficult to verify any information independently.

Terrorists wanted to implement Sharia law in Pakistan

The Pakistani Army said that the slain terrorists intended to overthrow the democratic government of the country and to implement the Islamic governance system operated under strict Sharia Act. He waged a war against the Pakistani state in this effort. The army in its statement did not tell about these terrorists about which group they can belong to.

However, it is understood from the statement of the Pakistani Army that these terrorists, terrorist organizations can belong to Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Because TTP has intensified its attacks in Pakistan since the cancellation of the ceasefire with the government at the end of 2022. In recent months, TTP militants have carried out some major attacks, in which the Pakistani army and its bases were targeted. Islamabad alleges that TTP terrorists run training camps in Afghanistan and plan attacks inside Pakistan, although Kabul denies the allegation.
