Like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card is also one of the most important documents in today’s time. It is required for any financial work, but these days a post related to PAN card is becoming increasingly viral. In this, India Post Payments Bank customers are being asked to update the PAN information in their account within 24 hours and failing to do so, the account is being warned of closure. PIB has clarified the picture in this whole matter and said that such posts are completely fake.

‘Update PAN details, otherwise account closed…’
A fake post related to the customers of India Post Payments Bank is becoming increasingly viral since last few days. In this, customers are being instructed to update the information related to PAN with their account of India Post Payments Bank within 24 hours and if they do not do so, the customer’s account will be closed. If you too are scared after seeing this post, then be careful, because it is fake and has not been made by India Post. PIB has clearly said that no such message has been sent by @IndiaPostOffice.

India Post did not send messages
PIB has posted on social media sharing information about this PAN Card scam and terming such claims as fake, it has alerted India Post Payments Bank account holders about fraud. Fact check has found such posts to be fraudulent and it has been said that India Post has neither sent nor will send such messages. According to PIB, such fake messages or posts contain a suspicious link, which can cause loss to customers.

Advice not to click on any link
Along with alerting the users about this scam related to PAN card, the Press Information Bureau has also advised that people should avoid clicking on any link or sharing personal information included in these messages and should not take any action like closure of account. Avoid claims as these are fake. India Post never sends any message.

The exploits of cyber criminals
PIB has already warned PAN card users and India Post customers in this regard and now once again it has issued a warning if such a post goes viral. In this, PIB has asked customers not to share their personal details, such as bank account information and PAN card, with anyone. Because cyber criminals often try to steal personal information from people by sending such fake messages.
