Members asked questions related to the Road Transport Ministry during Question Hour on Thursday during the ongoing winter session of Parliament. Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Shashi Tharoor cornered the government regarding a project. During Question Hour, Shashi Tharoor cornered the government by raising the issue of Port Without Road.

In response to this question, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also admitted that the port is of no use without a road. The Union Minister assured to find a solution in eight to 10 days. In fact, during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Shashi Tharoor asked a question regarding the road connectivity of Vizhinjam International Port in Kerala.

He said that this international port is to be commissioned next month and it does not have road connectivity. For this, there is a need to modify NH 66 and construct the road. Shashi Tharoor said that we want to know what steps you are taking for road connectivity within the stipulated time limit. Otherwise there will be no road to bring goods into the country from this port.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was also seen smiling on this question of Shashi Tharoor. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, while answering the question, said that this port sanction was done when I was the Shipping Minister. He said that the problem is that this port has been taken over by Adani Port as a private party. The company had said that they would build the road.

The Union Minister said that now a problem has arisen and the company has taken back its steps. Four-five days ago we had a meeting with the Chief Minister regarding this. He assured that we will find a solution soon. While addressing Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister Gadkari said that you raised the right question that without connectivity the port is of no use. We will find a solution within eight to 10 days. Its process is already going on.
