In Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, the encroachment squad of the Municipal Corporation crushed roadside vegetable shops with bulldozers. The shopkeepers kept shouting and asking for time, but the bulldozer of the Municipal Corporation did not stop. While bulldozing about a dozen illegal shops, the vegetables kept in them were scattered on the road. The video of the incident has surfaced, on which people are raising questions.
Angered by the working style of the Municipal Corporation, the local people blocked the road and raised slogans. After about an hour, the officials reached the spot and somehow pacified the angry people and opened the traffic jam. At the same time, the Municipal Commissioner has termed this type of incident as condemnable and has sought clarification from the encroachment in-charge. It has also been said that departmental action will be taken.
Actually, the whole matter is near Chitra intersection under Nawabad police station of Jhansi metropolis, where more than a dozen women sell vegetables sitting on the ground on the roadside. She supports herself and her family with the income earned from this. Like everyday, on Thursday also women were selling vegetables there. Then the encroachment squad of Jhansi Municipal Corporation came with bulldozers and showed hooliganism and asked them to move away.
The street shopkeepers say that they were just removing their goods when the personnel included in the squad got angry and ran a bulldozer on their shops and crushed all the vegetables. This created chaos there. The vegetables scattered all over the road. Angry people protested and blocked the road. Seeing this the encroachment squad ran away from the spot. The police team reached the spot about an hour after the jam. Where the victims told them the entire incident.
Crying, the victim woman vegetable seller Vidya said that we are poor people and come here from Baruasagar to sell vegetables. Had we been big people, we would not have set up shop here on the road. The Municipal Corporation people have crushed all our vegetables. They came here and said remove everything, to which we said they are removing, but by then they installed a machine and crushed the entire vegetable.
