PM wished for prosperity and peace!

PM Modi said, “Greetings on the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. May this occasion bring happiness and peace in everyone’s life.” Sharing a photo of the PM presenting a chadar to him and BJP leader Jamal Siddiqui, Union Minister Rijiju said, “This gesture reflects his deep respect for India’s rich spiritual heritage and its enduring message of harmony and compassion.”

Last year, on the occasion of 812th Urs, the Prime Minister had handed over this special chadar to the then Minority Minister Smriti Irani and BJP Minority Morcha chief Jamal Siddiqui. During this time, the PM also met a delegation of the Muslim community, whose photo he shared on his X handle.

What is the specialty of sheet offering?

With the arrival of the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, Ajmer Dargah is filled with devotees. On the occasion of Urs, which is going on from 28th December, thousands of devotees of Khwaja from India and abroad reach the Dargah and make their wishes by offering sheets. This traditional chadar is a symbol of affection and respect at Dargah Sharif and is considered a means of seeking blessings from Khwaja Garib Nawaz.

Court reached against Hindu Sena Dargah

The Hindu Sena’s displeasure over Prime Minister Modi sending a chadar to the Dargah has also come to light. The head of this organization, Vishnu Gupta, appealed to stop the tradition of sending chadars to the Dargah till the dispute is pending in the court and the matter is settled. It is noteworthy that the Hindu Sena chief had filed a case in the district court of Ajmer claiming the Shiv temple of Sankat Mochan Mahadev in the dargah. The next hearing of this case is to be held on January 24.

Vishnu Gupta reportedly said in one of his letters, “The country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had started offering chadar at Ajmer Sharif Dargah every year and since then this formality has continued, even when Narendra Modi was the Prime Minister. It’s going on.” He reportedly said that he had no problem with sending the sheet, but if he was sending the sheet while he was on a constitutional duty, it would affect the case filed by him.

Court issued notice asking for reply

On November 27 last year, a local court in Ajmer had issued notice to three parties to hear the claim of there being a Shiva temple in the dargah. Amidst this legal battle, Ajmer Sharif Dargah Committee also filed a petition in the Munsif court on December 20, demanding rejection of this claim, and appealing that no order be issued without hearing their side.
