Three operatives of terrorist Landa Harike gang have been arrested after a police encounter in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. All three were accused in a kidnapping and ransom case. Deputy Superintendent of Police Atul Soni said that the encounter incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday. During this, Kuldeep Singh alias Ladu, Yadvinder Singh alias Yada and Prabhjeet Singh alias Judge, residents of Tarn Taran district, were arrested. Police had received information that all three were hiding in the fields of Johal Dhai village of Tarn Taran.
SP said that after receiving the information, a police team reached the spot. After this, the three miscreants were asked to surrender, but they started firing on the police team. After this, the police also started firing on the three in retaliation. Two miscreants were seriously injured in this.
He told that Kuldeep Singh and Yadvinder Singh were injured during the firing. He was later admitted to the Civil Hospital in Tarn Taran. An FIR was registered against the accused on December 22 in an extortion case. After this encounter, a pistol has been recovered from him.
It is being told that an SI of Punjab Police has also been caught along with this gang. His name is Pawandeep Singh, who is a resident of Sarhali Kalan. His pistol was used in this incident. During investigation it was revealed that he is a drug addict. He had mortgaged his pistol to the shooters.
