Keeping in mind the inundation of the devotees who were thronging the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the police and administrative officials late on Monday night. In this meeting, the CM reviewed the personnel made for the Amrit bath to be held on the occasion of Maghi Purnima. The fifth Maghi Purnima bath of Mahakumbh will be held on 12 February. In such a situation, CM has instructed to implement better traffic and crowd management plans.

The government said in a statement that during the meeting held through video conferencing late Monday night, Chief Minister Adityanath reviewed the preparations. Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Kanpur, Sultanpur, Amethi, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mirjapur, Jaunpur, Chitrakoot, Banda, Pratapgarh, Bhadohi, Rae Bareli, Gorakhpur, Mahoba and Lucknow etc. are posted in districts/zone/range Police officers and Mandalayuktas and district administration officials have issued several guidelines to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

‘Number of devotees coming to Kumbh increased’

CM said that the number of devotees coming to Prayagraj during the last week has increased considerably. Along with public transport, a large number of private vehicles are also coming and this number is expected to increase on bathing festival. In view of this, a well -structured traffic and mob management scheme should be implemented.

He also directed the officials to take strict action against those who spread misleading or misinformation. In the meeting, he asked the officials to ensure that the public should be given accurate information immediately to prevent any confusion or nervousness.

‘Women and children should cooperate’

The Chief Minister also said that the available parking capacity of more than 5 lakh vehicles should be fully used and emphasized that no vehicle should be allowed to enter the fair premises by violating the rules. Cooperate with children, women and the elderly. Use shuttle buses as required. Their number should be increased, motivate people to comply with the parking system. Cooperation with the devotees should be fully behaved.

‘Long lines on the roads’

He said, ‘Long queues of vehicles should not be allowed on the roads. A situation of traffic jam should not be created anywhere. Do not let the vehicle stand on the road anywhere. Traffic congestion should be stopped at all costs. The movement of vehicles should remain continuously.

He has directed the magistrates of all the districts who share the border with Prayagraj to coordinate with each other to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

Our responsibility to ensure safe travel

The Chief Minister said, ‘A large number of devotees are returning home after a holy bath at the railway stations of Prayagraj. It is our responsibility to ensure their safe journey, continuous operation of trains should be ensured and additional buses should be deployed.

He said that lakhs of devotees coming to Mahakumbh are also traveling to Varanasi and Ayodhya and Mirzapur. Keeping this in mind, tight security and crowd control measures should be implemented in all three major religious cities. Holding areas should be designated and barricading should be used strategically to regulate the movement. Traffic management should be adapted, and parking facilities should be arranged.
