60 gigwot waiting to join transmission – 60 gigwot waiting to join transmission

The renewable (RE) projects up to 60 GW capacity are hanging up to 60 GW capacity due to lack of power transmission structure and the beginning of projects. 40 power transmission schemes were allocated during the last few years, which are going to start in the current and next finance years. But so far, the approval of electricity connection from the Central Transmission Unit (CTU) for these projects has not been received.
On the other hand, there has been a demand to extend the completion of most transmission projects connecting RE projects.

The reason for this is that at the moment it is difficult to say how long these RE projects will be completed. In this regard, no response was received till the news of questions sent to the Ministry of Power and the spokesperson of the new and renewable Energy Ministry.

Recently, this newspaper had published the news that buyers are not available for electricity for renewable energy projects with about 40 GW capacity. Four renewable energy implementation agencies had issued tenders for these projects. All these agencies were authorized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

These projects were allocated by the authorized unit SECI, government controlled NTPC, NHPC and SajjivN to issue RE tender. According to a presentation in the ministry, all these projects are under consideration as no state has come forward to make Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
