Kerala’s Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi has welcomed the decision of the Home Ministry to declare the Wayanad tragedy as a serious natural disaster. He said that this decision will help a lot in the rehabilitation of the people there.
Welcoming the decision of the Home Ministry, Priyanka Gandhi has expressed happiness on her social media handle. He wrote on Twitter, I am happy that Home Minister Amit Shah has decided to declare the Wayanad tragedy as a serious natural disaster. This will provide a lot of help to people in need of rehabilitation and is definitely a step in the right direction.
He also wrote, if adequate funds can be allocated for this as soon as possible then we all would be grateful.
Had met the Home Minister
Earlier this month, a delegation of Kerala MPs led by Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi had met Home Minister Amit Shah and sought assistance from the Center for the landslide-affected people. He had urged Amit Shah to rise above politics and provide relief.
The Congress MP said that there are landslide affected people in Wayanad, who are left with no support system. If the Center cannot take action in such circumstances then it gives a very bad message to the entire country and especially to the victims.
Priyanka said that family, home, business, school, everything has been washed away, in such a situation if the central government does not do anything then what can we do? Therefore, we have appealed to them (Centre) that keeping politics aside, the people there should be helped from a humanitarian perspective.
