Ramesh Bidhuri has a long association with controversy
While addressing an election meeting after the ticket was finalized from Kalkaji, Ramesh Bidhuri made controversial remarks about Priyanka Gandhi. Just 24 hours later, while addressing another election rally, he said something about the surname of Atishi, the Chief Minister of Delhi and his AAP rival from Kalkaji, which brought him at the center of controversy. Ramesh Bidhuri had said during his first rally, ‘Lalu had said that he would build roads like Hema Malini’s cheeks in Bihar but he could not do so. He had made a false promise. But I assure you that we will make all the roads of Kalkaji like the cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi. Addressing another rally 24 hours later, Bidhuri said, ‘This Marlena (the surname used earlier by Atishi) has now become Singh, she changed her surname. Kejriwal had sworn on his children not to go with the corrupt Congress, Marlena changed her father. Earlier she was Marlena, now she has become Leo. This is his character. However, after being criticized, Bidhuri expressed regret for her controversial statements.

Bidhuri’s statements have created ruckus in Parliament too
This is not the first time that Ramesh Bidhuri has been embroiled in controversies regarding his statements. During the discussion in Parliament on 21 September 2023, Bidhuri had abused Bahujan Samaj Party MP Kunwar Danish Ali, calling him a terrorist. These comments were condemned by MPs and political leaders from all parties. BJP has issued a show cause notice to him for his comment. However, no action was taken against him by Speaker Om Birla. Later Ramesh Bidhuri expressed regret for his objectionable remarks. Earlier in 2015, five women MPs of the opposition, in a complaint to then Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, had accused Bidhuri, the then BJP MP from South Delhi, of ‘disrespectful behavior and using inappropriate language’ in the House. The MPs who complained included Congress’s Ranjita Ranjan, Sushmita Dev (now in TMC), NCP’s Supriya Sule, TMC’s Arpita Ghosh and CPM’s PK Srimati.
