Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor recently revealed his admiration for his grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor, and shared his thoughts on remaking one of his most iconic films, Shree 420The actor spoke candidly at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where he participated in a special session celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Thoughts on Film Remakes
During an engaging conversation with director Rahul Rawail, Ranbir was asked about his views on remakes, particularly about any of Raj Kapoor’s films. While the actor expressed a general reluctance toward remakes, he acknowledged that if he were to reimagine one film, it would be Shree 420,
“I don’t believe in remakes, I believe a film is made to the best of its capabilities and you should not touch it, especially Raj Kapoor’s films. But I would love to have a take on Shree 420like I said it’s my favorite film,” Ranbir stated.
Despite his interest in Shree 420Ranbir also mentioned Confluenceanother Raj Kapoor classic, as a film he might consider reinterpreting. Shree 420a 1955 black-and-white film, remains one of the most beloved movies in Indian cinema, with its memorable songs and powerful performances.
Influence of Raj Kapoor’s Cinema on Ranbir
Ranbir, who comes from the renowned Kapoor family, also reflected on how Raj Kapoor’s films have shaped his approach to acting and filmmaking. He spoke about the impact of Keep going(1956), a film that deepened his understanding of cinema.
The actor also shared his desire to direct one day, admitting that while he hasn’t yet ventured into direction, the aspiration remains strong. “My grandfather directed, acted, produced, wrote, and edited a film called आग at the age of 24. I’m 42 today and I still don’t have the courage to direct a film. But I’m waiting for a story to come because a director should make a movie only if he has a story to tell,” he revealed.
