Ahdabad: Rajasthan was very disappointing for Royals for Sanju Samson. Not only his team Rajasthan Royals suffered a crushing defeat by 58 runs in a match of IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, but Samson was also fined by the BCCI due to violation of the IPL code of conduct. Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was fined for maintaining a slow over speed in that match. This was the second mistake related to the team’s over-rate this season, which falls under Article 2.22 of the IPL code of conduct. Earlier, Rajasthan was punished for the same crime in the match against Chennai Super Kings at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati last month. In that match, when Samson did not play due to injury, acting captain Ryan Parag was fined Rs 12 lakh.
This time on Wednesday, BCCI imposed a heavy fine of Rs 24 lakh on Sanju Samson. An official statement said- all other players of the playing XI, including the impact player, will be fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees (whichever lower). Sudarshan scored an attractive 82 runs in 53 balls, while Jose Butler (36), Shah Rukh Khan (36) and Rahul Tewatia (24) brought the team to a strong score of 217/6. After this, Gujarat bowlers kept Rajasthan under pressure by taking wickets at regular intervals, although Shimran Hetmyer (52) and captain Sanju Samson (41) played struggling innings.
Finally, Rajasthan’s team was all out for 159 runs in 19.1 overs. Now Rajasthan Royals will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Jaipur on Sunday, while the Gujarat Titans will turn to the Ekana Stadium to fight with Lucknow Super Giants.
