Respect for the Constitution, respect for Ambedkar or keeping an eye on the Dalit vote bank… Congress and BJP face to face from Parliament to the streets – Congress BJP clash over Respect for Constitution dr br Ambedkar congress protest parliament winter session ntc
On the occasion of 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution, the four-day discussion on the Constitution in the Parliament of the country ended in such an uproar where the Constitution was talked about less and everyone took the name of Ambedkar. Accusations were made of insulting Ambedkar. Everything happened in the name of Ambedkar. The name which is the symbol of bringing the backward people forward in India, the name which is the symbol of voice against oppression, of principles and now also of political opportunities for the leaders, by accusing them of insulting them, the Parliament itself claims respect instead of discussion. It became an arena for betting.
On the occasion of the 75th year of the acceptance of the Constitution, during the discussion on the Constitution in the country and the Parliament of the country, that arena of politics was seen in the name of Ambedkar, which brought the concerns of Ambedkar, who gifted the Constitution to the country, on the ground. Brought it. In the Parliament where oaths were taken on the Constitution for four days, on the fifth day there were attempts to demand resignation in the name of Ambedkar and to pursue one’s own politics.

Congress-BJP are attacking each other
Congress posted a video quoting a part of Amit Shah’s statement at 9:19 pm on 17 December. Congress wrote that the leaders of BJP and RSS have a lot of hatred towards Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Alleging insult to Ambedkar on the basis of a part of Amit Shah’s speech in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress demonstrated in Parliament in the morning with Ambedkar’s photograph in hand. In the evening, Arvind Kejriwal also came out to protest raising the issue of insulting Ambedkar.
Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media that those who believe in Manusmriti will definitely have trouble with Ambedkar. The Prime Minister made six posts to respond to the opposition’s move to make insulting Ambedkar an issue. It is clearly written that when Home Minister Amit Shah in the Parliament exposed the dark history of Congress insulting Ambedkar and ignoring SC-STs, now Congress has started doing drama.
In this politics of insulting and honoring Ambedkar, BJP reminds that Congress always insulted Ambedkar while he was alive and even after his death, so Congress wants to remind that BJP has no respect for Ambedkar and the Constitution. Amidst all this, remember the Lok Sabha elections and the politics surrounding it.
Politics happening around Constitution and Ambedkar
In the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav came out to seek votes with the Constitution. After this, many MPs took oath in the Parliament also with the Constitution in their hands. Then there was a controversy over raising the slogan Jai Constitution during the oath taking ceremony. After all this, BJP cornered Congress by organizing a program on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, which was making the Constitution an issue. On June 26, a condemnation motion against the Emergency comes in the Lok Sabha. After this, many opposition MPs demanded to establish the Constitution in place of Sengol and now the politics of insulting Ambedkar has come.
The reason for this is Dalit vote bank. There are 20 crore 13 lakh 78 thousand 86 Dalits in the country, which are 16.63 percent of the country’s population. 76.4 percent of the country’s Dalits live in rural areas, while 68.8 percent of the entire country’s population lives in rural areas. That means most of the Dalit population is in villages. 23.6 percent of the country’s Dalits live in urban areas while 31.2 percent of the entire country’s population lives in urban areas. In an effort to garner these votes, has Congress created an issue by alleging insult to Ambedkar? Did the excitement of seats won only by Dalit votes give Congress the opportunity to do full politics by showing half of Amit Shah’s statement?
Rahul Gandhi did not come to hold the press conference on Wednesday evening, instead Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge arrived. Mallikarjun Kharge is not holding this front just because he is the Speaker and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. Congress might have put him forward because he is also a Dalit leader. Now the question is whether Congress feels that by strongly raising the issue of half the statement, BJP can be cornered on that vote bank because India Alliance has got the votes of Dalits and backward people in the Lok Sabha elections this time.

dalit vote bank data
The data shows that there are 156 seats in the country where Dalit votes are in large numbers. Out of these 156 seats, this time the opposition alliance won 93 seats and the NDA won 57 seats. In 156 seats with Dalit votes, this time compared to 2019, the opposition gained 53 seats and NDA lost 34 seats. Is Congress beginning to feel that by raising the issue of insulting Ambedkar, it can further add or increase the Dalit vote? And that is why Congress is being the most aggressive.
Out of 543 Lok Sabha seats in the country, 84 seats are reserved for Dalits. But the issue is not only about 84 seats. By looking at the number of seats with more than 20 percent Dalit votes in some big states of the country, you will understand the politics taking place on this issue.
UP- 42, West Bengal- 26, Tamil Nadu- 21, Punjab- 13, Karnataka- 11, Rajasthan- 10, Andhra Pradesh- 9, Bihar- 6, Haryana- 5, Telangana- 3, MP- 8, Maharashtra- 4 seats. Such is the case in the Lok Sabha where more than 20 percent i.e. one in every five votes is from Dalit citizens. Is this not the reason that when the Dalit vote is dominant in more than 150 seats in big states in the country, the Congress now wants to capitalize on the advantage it had gained 7 months ago by showing the copy of the Constitution and expressing the fear of ending the reservation? .
In 74 districts of the country, the Dalit population is more than 25 percent, that is, one in every four voters is a Dalit. Political experts say that just as a pattern of Muslim voting is seen, similarly the pattern of shift of Dalit votes has been seen from time to time. Whereas twenty years ago, Congress got twice the number of Dalit votes than BJP in the country, but in 2004, whereas BJP used to get total Dalit votes at 13 percent, BJP now gets 12 percent more votes than Congress. So does Congress think that times will change by raising the issue?
Congress did not get advantage in the assembly elections
At a time when politics in search of temples among Hindus, Hindu temples and mosques is suddenly increasing in the country, the political claims of following the path shown by Ambedkar have come because Dalit voters consider Ambedkar as God. But the advantage that Congress got on Dalit votes in the Lok Sabha elections, now it does not seem to be achieved. For example, in Haryana, BJP’s number of seats reserved for Dalits increased from five to eight as compared to last time.
If we look at Maharashtra, NDA was 11% behind the INDIA alliance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is claimed that NDA had a lead of 7% over the opposition in the assembly elections. The Dalit vote which this time seemed to be slightly beneficial for the opposition alliance, the BJP made a strong comeback there and that is why political experts believe that the issue of insulting Ambedkar was made such a big deal during the discussion on the Constitution in the Parliament.
