Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had lunch on Tuesday at a special person’s house. Kejriwal reached New Kondli, Delhi with his wife on Tuesday afternoon. His host here was 34 year old Navneet Kumar. Navneet Kumar drives an auto rickshaw in Delhi and is a supporter of Aam Aadmi Party.

Navneet looked very happy while hosting Kejriwal. His wife Pooja had cooked dal, roti, paneer and many vegetables for Kejriwal. Aam Aadmi Party widely publicized this lunch of Kejriwal and shared its pictures on X. Navneet, a resident of Lakhisarai, Bihar, praised the AAP government and said that whatever they do is for the betterment of the people, they listen to our problems like family members and solve the problems with full seriousness.

When Kejriwal used to paste posters on autos

Delhi’s auto drivers have been fellow travelers on Kejriwal’s political journey. In 2011-12, when Arvind Kejriwal was trying to plant the roots of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, the auto drivers of Delhi were at the forefront of his movement and campaign. This was the period when former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia themselves used to paste their party’s posters on autos.

Now elections are going to be held in Delhi in a few days. Kejriwal himself is away from the CM’s chair, many big leaders of his party have also separated from AAP. Kejriwal and Sisodia have been jailed in the liquor scam and are currently out on bail. In such difficult times, Arvind Kejriwal has again remembered these foot soldiers of AAP. So that Delhi can return to power for the third time.

Auto drivers support from Ramlila Maidan itself

Recalling his association with auto drivers, Kejriwal posted on X that this relationship started from Ramlila Maidan and is as strong even today. Remember that Ramlila Maidan is the cradle of Kejriwal brand politics in India. In this very ground, Kejriwal had made his mark across the country by agitating against the Lokpal Bill along with Anna Hazare.

Road, struggle and dialogue

By invoking Ramlila Maidan, Kejriwal has indicated that he is again going back to basics. That means politics of streets, struggle and dialogue. If we talk about Kejriwal’s initial days of politics, Delhi’s law and order, electricity, water and transport were his priorities.

When the Nirbhaya incident happened in 2012, there was a storm in Delhi politics regarding law and order. Remember the crowd of protesters around India Gate and Parliament and demanding justice for Nirbhaya. The agitating Kejriwal easily understood what the people wanted and in the 2013 assembly elections, he cornered the Sheila government on the issue of law and order. He also asked questions to BJP. Congress was not able to respond to the brutality of the Nirbhaya incident and the Sheila government of the Congress was unable to respond and the public lost faith in the BJP and Delhi chose the agitator Kejriwal as its leader.

In 2013, Kejriwal was cornering the Sheila government on the issue of law and order, but this time his target is Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Kejriwal is directly asking questions to Amit Shah in the name of Delhi Police regarding the criminal cases happening in Delhi. Recently, due to the criminal incidents taking place in Delhi, Kejriwal is reaching the homes of the victims and asking questions to the Centre.

Along with this, he has also kept the option of street politics open. Kejriwal has said that if there is a need for agitation on the issue of law and order, I will do that too.

Apart from the road and struggle, Kejriwal has reactivated his old politics of dialogue and has remembered the auto drivers to make AAP’s campaign aggressive before the elections.

Kejriwal has posted the picture of himself and Sisodia on X when he was neither the CM nor a national level leader. He was an agitator then. In this picture, Kejriwal is pasting the poster of Aam Aadmi Party on the auto with Manish Sisodia. While sharing this poster, Kejriwal reminded the old relationship with the auto drivers and wrote, “This is a very old picture. When the new party was started. Manish and I used to stick posters on the back of every auto. Since then. The auto guys have been very supportive every time.”

5 guarantees given to auto drivers

Actually this picture of Kejriwal is an appeal to auto drivers for votes. In return for this, Kejriwal has given 5 guarantees to 1.5 lakh auto drivers of Delhi if the next government is formed. Kejriwal gave this guarantee after lunch at auto driver Navneet’s house. These guarantees are-

1. Life insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh and accident insurance of Rs 5 lakh for each driver.
2. Assistance of Rs 1 lakh in daughter’s marriage.
3. ₹2500 for uniform twice a year.
4. Expenses of coaching for children to prepare for competitive exams.
5. ‘PoochO app’ will restart.

Before lunch on Monday, Kejriwal had tea with about 100 auto drivers in his office. During this, Kejriwal again remembered the old days and said, ‘Sharing happiness and sorrow with him is very special for me. I have an old and deep relationship with auto drivers. No matter what the times were, we always supported each other. The challenges of his life and his hard work have always inspired me. We have always worked for them and will continue to work for their convenience in future also.

Kejriwal asked for votes by reminding him of salt

During this tea meeting, Navneet had invited Kejriwal for lunch at his house. After lunch at Navneet’s house, Kejriwal praised her a lot and said, ‘Sister-in-law served us very delicious food… Now I can say that I have eaten the salt of the auto drivers. With their affection and respect, I felt as if I were in my own family. I am in between. Many thanks to Navneet Bhai and his family for inviting us.”

1 lakh autos, 1.5 lakh auto drivers in Delhi

Let us tell you that according to a 2011 order of the Supreme Court, the number of auto rickshaws in the capital Delhi has been fixed at 1 lakh. This cannot be increased. It is worth noting here that auto drivers in Delhi work in shifts, hence there are approximately 1.5 lakh drivers to drive 1 lakh autos in the capital. If in each family of these 1.5 lakh auto drivers, there would be 3 to 4 people apart from the auto driver, then the number would be between 5 to 6 lakh. Therefore, this exercise of Kejriwal is for about 5 to 6 lakh lump sum voters.

From ‘this time the broom will run’ to ‘Kejriwal will bring it again’

In 2011-12, when Kejriwal was appealing for support from auto drivers, he had written on the posters pasted on auto rickshaws – This time the broom will run. Remember, this was the period when Sheila Dikshit was in power in Delhi for 15 years. And Kejriwal was trying hard to remove him. Then not only the auto drivers but also the people of Delhi fully supported Kejriwal and he got a bumper majority. The same story was repeated in 2020 also. But this time after 10 years, the poster that Aam Aadmi Party is putting in the auto has the words ‘Phir Laayenge Kejriwal’ written on it. However, in the last 10 years, the politics of Delhi and the country has changed a lot.
