Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev attended a special screening of Kangana Ranaut’s political drama. emergency on Friday. The film, directed by and starring Kangana, revisits the controversial emergency period declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975. Speaking at the event, Sadhguru emphasized the importance of the film for younger generations, calling it a significant opportunity to learn about a pivotal chapter in India’s history.

Sadhguru: “The Youth Must Watch This Film”
During the screening, Sadhguru shared his thoughts on the film’s relevance and its portrayal of history. “The youth must watch this film as it gives us a chance to know about history,” he remarked. He praised Kangana and her team for presenting a complex subject in an engaging manner, calling the effort “fantastically presented.” Reflecting on his own experiences during the emergency, he said, “I was in university, and it had a big impact on us. For the younger generations, a movie like this is very important because how many people will really sit down and read history?”
Sadhguru also stressed the need to learn from history rather than judging it. “It’s been 50 years, and we can now consider it history. The question is whether, as a nation, we learn from what happens to us or if we continue to repeat the same mistakes,” he added.
Kangana Ranaut Expresses Gratitude to Sadhguru
Kangana Ranaut, who directed and starred in the film, expressed her gratitude for Sadhguru’s presence at the screening. “We are very blessed that Sadhguru ji is here. He never has time to watch movies, but he made time for us,” she said. She also sought his blessings for the success of emergency,
Sadhguru Lauds the Performances
Praising the cast, Sadhguru highlighted the challenges of portraying historical figures. “Playing historical characters is not easy. Both Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher did a wonderful job. It requires a different level of performance,” he noted.
Released on January 17, 2025, emergency revisits the political and societal turmoil of the 1975–1977 emergency period. Directed by Kangana Ranaut, who plays Indira Gandhi, the film features an ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik.
