The accused, who entered Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra house and attacked him, was finally arrested by Mumbai Police from Thane late on Saturday night, after 72 hours. Police caught the main accused Mohammed Aliyan alias Vijay Das (BJ) from the bushes near the labor camp near Hiranandani Estate in Thane. The accused is a resident of West Bengal. He had infiltrated Saif Ali Khan’s house located on the 11th and 12th floor of Satguru Sharan Building late on the night of 15th January with the intention of theft. When he came face to face with Saif, he attacked the actor several times with a knife, in which he suffered injuries on his back, neck and hands.

The main accused has been arrested in a joint action by Mumbai Police’s Zone 6, Zone 9, and Kasarwadi Police of Thane. Accused Mohammad Aliyan is currently kept in Khar police station, where he is being interrogated. He will be brought to Bandra today and interrogated. The police will present the accused in the court today and will seek his remand. He used to work in a bar in Thane. He has given many of his names, which include- Bijoy Das, Vijay Das, Mohammad Ilyas, Mohammad Sajjad, B.J. Are included. Police are also trying to find out whether the arrested accused is an Indian or a Bangladeshi living illegally in Mumbai.

The accused was hiding in the bushes in Thane

Vile Parle police station had received a lead regarding the accused. Based on the same, the team of DCP Zone-6 Navnath Dhawale and Kasarwadi police conducted a joint operation in the labor camp near the metro construction site behind the TCS call center in Hiranandani Estate, Thane (West) and caught the accused. He was hiding in the bushes. A DCP of Mumbai Police, who was part of the search operation, confirmed that Das was found sleeping under dry grass and leaves inside the bushes. A senior officer said, ‘The accused had worked here initially, so he was aware of the location and found it safe to hide here.’

The accused was continuously watching news channels

Mumbai Police says that the accused was working at different places in Mumbai and Thane for the last seven-eight months. For the last few days, he was working with a contractor at a construction site. After attacking Saif and absconding, he was continuously watching news channels and tracking the police action. He had also switched off his phone due to fear of being arrested. However, neither Aadhaar card, voter ID card nor any other document has been found with the accused, which could confirm his name or address. That is why the police also suspect him to be an illegal resident of Bangladesh.

Less than 24 hours after Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times in his Bandra apartment, CCTV footage has emerged in which the attacker is seen running down the stairs after the incident. A CCTV footage from before the incident also surfaced, in which the suspected attacker was seen climbing the stairs into the building barefoot, with his face covered and carrying a black bag on his back. Saif lives with his family in a duplex flat on the 11th and 12th floors of this building. Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on January 16 to remove a part of a broken knife stuck near his spinal cord. However, doctors have said that he is out of danger and will be discharged from the hospital soon.
