Many victimized families who had fled the area after the 1978 communal riots in Sambhal, UP, have got their land back after 46 years. In such a situation, many officers including DM and SP reached the spot and met the families of the victims. The officers have also started digging the foundation for the construction of a house on the land.
In fact, after the murder of a resident of Mohalla Jagat in the communal riots in Sambhal in 1978, a large number of people of Hindu community had fled from the area. The members of the deceased family claim that after the murder of the family member, they had left their land and fled from this area. When we returned years later, people of the Muslim community captured our land and drove us away from here.
Recently, when the 1978 riots were mentioned, the matter reached the higher authorities. After which SDM Vandana Mishra reached the spot along with the Revenue Department team and got the land measured. During this time, he got the marking done on the land of three victim families. Then Sambhal DM Rajendra Pansia and SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi along with the Revenue Department team reached the land of the victim families and talked to the families.
As soon as they got the land, the victims started digging the foundation.
After this, the DM also visited and inspected the premises of ‘Azad Jannat Nisha School’, which is being run adjacent to the land of the victim families, and interrogated the school director. Then the victim families were given possession of their old land. This land was occupied illegally.
As soon as they got their land after 46 years, the victim families immediately called laborers and started digging the foundation. He says that this land was snatched from us after the 1978 riots. I had appealed to the administration several times but there was no hearing. Even in the year 2020, a complaint was made on the online portal. After a long time, justice has now been achieved.
Nishant, grandson of deceased Tulsiram, says that after the death of our grandfather, all the people of the house had fled from here during the riots of 78. We had two and a quarter bighas of land on the spot, for this we had also complained to the SDM. Now this land has been returned after 46 years. Many thanks to the government for this.
While talking to ‘Aaj Tak’, DM Rajendra Pansia said that a family had first given information about their land to the media and then the matter had reached the police captain of Sambhal. After this we sent a team of administration to the spot. When investigation was done, a deed of land was found but it was for a small portion of the land. The remaining land was kept under occupation like this.
The remaining 10 thousand 182 square meters of land is still registered in the name of the old family, so measurement of that land was done. If any person brings his documents then information about the same will also be given. Action will be taken against the person who has wrongfully occupied this land. In the matter of the school built on the spot, the Block Education Officer has also been called and instructions have been given to investigate.
