Satya re-release premiere: In a RARE instance, Vishal Bhardwaj sings the original version of ‘Goli Maar Bheje Mein’; Anurag Kashyap jokes, “It was the FIRST song on mental health”

Vishal Bhardwaj began by saying, “When Ramu met me first, he told me, ‘My film is full of blood. Hence, you should clean it with your music. Bring some softness’!”

He continued, “Next day, I was at Gulzar saab’s place for dinner. Ramu called and I informed him that I was at Gulzar saab’s place. Ramu landed over there in half an hour. That’s where he narrated the whole script. Ramu was disappointed when Gulzar saab heard it and said, ‘It’s a very good thriller’. Ramu replied, ‘But I am not making a thriller. I am making a human film’ (smiles).”

Ram Gopal Varma took over and said, “The first line he told me after I finished the narration was ‘Arre, a lot of people are going to die.I told him,There are not many people, everyone is gaye.As expected, it brought the house down.

RGV then revealed a hilarious trivia about ‘Send me a bullet’ saying“Vishal had dummy lyrics ready. I loved it so much but Gulzar saab wrote the final song. When we heard it, we all thought that he screwed up! To be honest, I feel even today, Vishal’s lyrics were better! But obviously, because of Gulzar saab’s seniority, we couldn’t say No to him.”

At this point, Anurag Kashyap and Ram Gopal Varma requested Vishal Bhardwaj to sing the version of ‘Kallu Mama’ which he had written. The music composer cum director obliged and sang and it got a roaring response.

Vishal Bhardwaj then justified the version that Gulzar wrote. He said, “There’s a very spiritual thought behind ‘The bullet is sent into me, it makes noise. It indicates that your mind is a problem.” Anurag Kashyap raised laughs as he remarked, “It was the first song on mental health!”
