In the Tilak festival of Shri Ram in Ayodhya, a grand feast will be arranged for the guests coming from his in-laws’ house. From Papdi Chaat to Halwa, everything will be served to welcome him. Before the marriage ceremony to be held for the first time after the consecration of Ramlala, preparations have been made from Ayodhya to Janakpur to make the Tilak Utsav grand. Arrangements have been made to welcome and felicitate the guests coming from Janakpur to Sitaji’s house to do Tilak of Shri Ram.

The biggest occasion of celebration in Ramkatha is the marriage of Shri Ram with Janaki. This time 6th December is the date of Vivah Panchami, on this day there will be a grand celebration of Shri Ram Janaki marriage in Janakpur. Before this, on 18th November, Tilakharu who came from Sitaji’s maternal home will do Tilak of Shri Ram in Ayodhya. Tilakotsav will be held with full rituals at 2 pm. According to the information, more than 300 Janakpur tilakhars (relatives who apply tilak) will reach Ayodhya. These people will come to Ayodhya in different groups with gifts.

Arrangements from Papdi Chaat to Halwa in the feast

According to tradition, a grand feast will be arranged for the guests coming from Janakpur. A special menu has been prepared to welcome the Tilakhars. Among the dishes, there will be dishes made on wedding and auspicious occasions in Awadh. Chaat will also be arranged for the guests coming from Janakpur. Aloo Tikki, Papdi Chaat, Dahi-Bhalla will be special in this. Apart from this, there will be chickpea-rice, puri-sabzi, mixed vegetables, papad, raita and many other dishes. There will be arrangements for halwa and other sweets to sweeten the mouth.

Shri Ram’s tilak will be applied in the traditional way

Shri Ram’s Tilak festival will be held in Ramsevakapuram. Arrangements are being made here considering the number of guests and people present. On the stage prepared for the Tilak, the 18-year-old youth dressed in the form of Ram will be seated on a square made of dough or on a throne prepared for the ceremony. The Tilak ceremony will be completely traditional. According to tradition, Tilakharu will bring the items required for this with him from Janakpur. In this, apart from the five traditional utensils like bronze plate, two bowls, glass, spoon etc., other utensils will be brought to gift. Traditional yellow dhoti, Gamchha, turmeric lump, sandalwood lump (muttha), paddy, yellow rice, durva (doob grass), Yagyopaveet will be offered to the form of Ram. Apart from this, silver coins, betel leaves, cardamom and betel nut will also be given.

Ram Baraat will leave from Ayodhya for Janakpur on 26th November

According to tradition, among the relatives who came from Janakpur to offer Tilak to Shri Ram, the role of Sitaji’s younger brother will be played by younger Mahant Ramroshan Das of Janaki Temple, who will follow all the traditions as a brother. After this, the Ram procession will leave for Janakpur from Ayodhya on 26th November. Ram Janaki’s marriage will take place in Janakpur on 6th December, on the date of Vivah Panchami. For the first time, the program of Tilak Utsav is being organized, many eminent people of Nepal will come in it. Nepal’s Madhesh Pradesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh and many of his ministers will be present. Janakpur Mayor Manoj Kumar Shah will also reach Ayodhya. Tilakharu will bring with him clothes, gold and silver jewellery, fruits, dry fruits, sweets and gifts to present to ‘son-in-law’ Ram.
