The ‘Black Day’ was being celebrated throughout Pakistan by Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to protest against the alleged rigging in elections in Pakistan, on which several party leaders have been arrested. Last year, ‘Black Day’ was celebrated in Pakistan on 8 February against the alleged rigging in the general elections and took out rallies.

PTI held the main rally in Swabi, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the party is in power. The party also asked its workers and supporters to protest across the country.

Section 144 implemented throughout the area

Lahore’s historic Minar-A was preparing to hold a rally in-Pakistan, although the rally was postponed due to the permission of Punjab (Pakistan) officials. The Punjab government (Pakistan), led by Maryam Nawaz, imposed Section 144 in the entire area on February 8, banning all political meetings, dharna, rallies, demonstrations, and other activities.

A large number of police forces were deployed to prevent PTI activists from reaching the venue. At the same time, the police arrested the protesters.

Dozens of party workers arrested

On Saturday, dozens of party workers were arrested in Multan city, including Mehr Bano Qureshi, daughter of party vice -president Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Among the other people arrested during the protest, Zahid Bahar Hashmi and Dallir Meher were arrested in Pul Chatta for violating Section 144. At the same time, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) violated Section 144 in Lahore and organized a rally to celebrate the success of one year of its government.

Accused of election rigging
Police personnel were deployed to protect the leaders involved in the PMLN rally. At the same time, Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar addressed the gathering. The PTI leaders accused the government of winning the election. Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar said that to win the election, different tactics adopted and PTI opponents, who were losing, were also declared the winner. He said that the general election results have insulted the Constitution.
