More than 100 people are expected to be killed in the attacks in Sudan’s Darfoor area from Friday. The dead include at least 20 children. This attack is reported by the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF). According to the United Nations (UN), RSF carried out ground and airstrikes on the L-Father city and nearby Zamzam and Abu hobby displaced camps.
The United Nations coordination unit (OCHA) said on Saturday that these attacks have caused havoc in these camps already struggling with starvation.
‘War crime and crime against humanity’
The movement group General Coordination of Displayed Person and Refugees said that the attacks started from Thursday and continued till Saturday. These attacks also targeted residential areas, markets and health centers, killing hundreds of people, including a large number of women and children. The organization called these attacks a crime against war crime and humanity.
RSF refuses, army accused
RSF dismissed the allegations and claimed that citizens were not targeted at Jamjam camp. He said that the video that is going viral on social media is propaganda spread by the army, which includes fake scenes to defame the RSF. RSF accused its commitment to international human rights laws and accused the army of diverting attention from real crimes.
Let us know that in April 2023, the war broke out due to the power struggle between the RSF and the Sudani army, which broke the hopes of democratic change in the country. Millions of people have been displaced in this struggle and especially areas like Darfoor have suffered heavy damage.
