The condition of tabla player Zakir Hussain is critical. Due to heart related problems, he is undergoing treatment in the ICU ward of a hospital in San Francisco, America. Zakir Hussain’s sister Khurshid Till today Conversated. He told that his brother’s condition is critical. But the claim of his death is wrong. Zakir is admitted in the hospital in America and many family members are with him.
Actually, Zakir Hussain’s death was claimed late on Sunday night. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting even made a social media post regarding his death, although it was later deleted. Zakir Hussain’s sister Khurshid has said that her brother’s condition is critical. His breathing is fast, but the claim of his death is completely false. Zakir Hussain’s manager Nirmala Bachani has told news agency PTI that the 73-year-old tabla player also has a problem related to blood pressure. He is undergoing treatment.
Sister said- pray for brother
Zakir Hussain’s sister Khurshid said, ‘My brother is very ill at the moment. They are still with us. We are asking all his fans in India and around the world to pray for him. Zakir Hussain’s friend and flute player Rakesh Chaurasia told PTI that Zakir is unwell and is currently admitted in the ICU. We are concerned about their situation. Zakir’s nephew Amir Auliya has also posted on social media and appealed to pray for the safety of the tabla player.

Zakir Hussain, one of India’s most famous classical musicians, has been awarded the Padma Shri in 1988, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2023. He has received five Grammy Awards in his career. Zakir Hussain was born on 9 March 1951 in Mumbai. His father was the great tabla player Ustad Allah Rakha Qureshi. Mother’s name was Biwi Begum.
First performance at the age of 11
Zakir Hussain studied at St. Michael’s School in Mahim, Mumbai. Did his graduation from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He performed in front of the audience for the first time in America at the age of 11. In 1973 he launched his first album ‘Living in the Material World’. Zakir was invited by former US President Barack Obama to the White House to participate in the All-Star Global Concert. Apart from being a tabla player, Zakir is also an actor. He has done 12 films.
