From Baba Saheb’s son Yashwant to grandson and Parpot, family members were active in politics but except Prakash Ambedkar, no one could register a strong presence.

In the last election of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (2024), Prakash Ambedkar’s party VBA fielded candidates for 200 seats. The VBA account could not even open and the party had finished second in only one seat. VBA candidates finished third in 54 seats. Even in terms of vote share, the party could get only 2.2 percent of the votes.

Why the Ambedkar family left behind?
