Four former captains including an explosive opener, these five legends remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction – full list of big unsold players in ipl auction 2025

The two-day long IPL mega auction has come to an end in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 10 teams together spent Rs 639.15 crore to buy 182 players. With a whopping price of Rs 27 crore, Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history. Apart from Pant, money was also showered on Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, but there were many such legends who were not bought by anyone. These also include four former IPL captains. Let us tell you the list of five such greats, whom no team bought even at a penny price.

Captain David Warner, who made Sunrisers Hyderabad the champion in 2016 under his captaincy, also remained unsold this time. Iyer’s base price was Rs 2 crore. After playing for Delhi Capitals from 2009 to 2013, he was with Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2014 to 2021. He came back with Delhi again in 2022 and 2023, but now it seems that the career of the legend with four centuries and 62 half-centuries is over.

kane williamson

34-year-old right-handed batsman Kane Williamson was the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad for a long time. Williamson, who joined Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, has played a total of 79 matches in the IPL, scoring 2128 runs with 18 half-centuries. Former New Zealand captain not being selected in the mega auction means the end of his career from IPL.

Prithvi Shaw

The most surprising thing is the non-sale of 25-year-old Prithvi Shaw in this auction. Everyone knows what an explosive batsman Prithvi is. Prithvi Shaw, who hit six fours in six consecutive balls in an IPL match, was in controversies due to his poor fitness and attitude. In 79 matches of IPL, Prithvi Shaw has scored 1892 runs with the help of 14 half-centuries at a tremendous strike rate of 147.47.

Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla, who was a part of the 2011 ODI World Cup winning team, remained unsold in the auction. The 35-year-old experienced leg spinner, with a base price of just Rs 50 lakh, did not find any taker. Chawla, who has played for Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, played a total of 192 matches in the IPL, taking 192 wickets.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal, who started his IPL career for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011, was also one such former captain, who remained unsold this time. After Delhi Capitals, Rising Pune Supergiant, he stayed with Punjab Kings from 2018 to 2022. During this time, he also got a chance to take over the captaincy of Punjab Kings for one season. In 2023, he was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a hefty sum of Rs 8.25 crore. But this time it remained unsold.
