Temple, dargah and biryani … Tamil Nadu politics has started to heat up long before the election! – Tamilnadu Politics Murugan Non Veg Food BJP Versus Iuml in State Assembly Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026 NTCPPL

The hills of Thairuparnakundram, presenting panoramic hills and beautiful views, have become hot cakes in Tamil Nadu politics these days. The reason is the non -veg dinner served in the temple premises. Thiruparnakundram hills are located in the outskirts of Madurai. These monolithic hills are known for the Thiruparnakundram Temple of Lord Murugan.

This Manohar hill came to the center of controversies when Indian Union Muslim League MP Nawas Kani shared a picture on social media where he is seen eating non -veg in this hill with his supporters. Significantly, the temple of Lord Murugan is located inside this hill.

There is another angle of this dispute here. Please tell that there is also a dargah in this complex which Muslims consider holy and sacrifice here.

The state’s political temperature suddenly became hot after the IUML MP posted pictures of non -veg. Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai, while sharing these pictures, strongly criticized them.

Annamalai said, “The spiritual land of Tamil Nadu has its own rules of worship at the religious places of all religions. Their sanctity should be maintained. But the events happening in Thiruparnakundram Subramaniam Swamy Temple (Murugan Temple) are unpleasant.”

IUML MP Nawas Kani first did not accept these allegations. Kani told India Today TV, “He (Annamalai) made false allegations. He said that I had gone to Thiruparnakundram temple and had ate Biryani. I never went to the hill nor ate non -vegetarian food.”

MP Nawas Kani said that if Annamalai will prove that he has eaten non -veg on the holy hill, he will resign.

Before understanding these incidents of the state, it is also important to know that Tamil Nadu has assembly elections next year. In the assembly elections held in 2021, the DMK returned to power with a strong majority after 10 years. AIADMK was out of the political scenario in this reversal of power. Meanwhile, the BJP is putting a lot of power in the state on the strength of the young leader Annamalai, who left the BJP’s job and join BJP.

But BJP did not get much success in Tamil Nadu in the Lok Sabha elections. The party could not win a single seat. Annamalai also lost the election. Now before the assembly elections, electoral enthusiasts have increased once again in the state.

Even after losing the election, Annamalai remains continuously active in the politics of the state.

Annamalai shared a video. In which there were pictures beyond MP Kani’s claim. This footage proved that the police has given permission to bring a carnivorous food on the hill along with biryani. After this revelation, Kani admitted that his supporters had eaten non -vegetarian food on the hill.

Reacting to this confession of Kani, Annamalai demanded his resignation. He said, “Since he (Kani) himself has accepted the truth, I urge him to immediately resign and hurt the sentiments of Hindus and apologize to the public to hurt the feelings of Hindus and to impure the temple of Lord Muruga.”

Annamalai accused Kani of deliberately inciting religious tension and doing “politics of appeasement”. He said, “Hindu is a peace loving community. This MP climbed the hill and ate non -vegetarian food. It is very unfortunate.”

Following this dispute, on January 18, this hill was further heated when the police stopped the animals being taken to the dargah for sacrifice. After this there was a lot of uproar here.

IUML MP Kani, who is also a member of the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board, said that the practice of sacrifice at the dargah is quite old. He said that 50 percent of the land and Dargah of this hill is from the Waqf Board. This is proved by the government’s gazette.

Madurai district administration has currently allowed only worship in this dargah.

DMK has not yet come out openly on this matter but IUML has the support of the ruling DMK.

Hindutva politics does not run in Tamil Nadu

The BJP is seen having its victory chariot in every part of the country. The south parts of the country, which once considered impervious for the BJP, have also opened to the BJP, the BJP has formed the government in Karnataka. But by reaching the door of Tamil Nadu, the BJP’s chariot slows down.

After all, why does the BJP not succeed in Tamil Nadu like other places of the country or Karnataka? The answer is hidden in the social and political fabric of Tamil Nadu. BJP’s political ideology is Hindutva, but Dravid politics does not work in Tamil Nadu.

Periyar EV Ramaswamy launched a movement against Dalit Asmita and Brahmin domination in 1925 and created a ruckus in Tamil Nadu politics.

This movement was recognized as the Dravidian movement. Periyar launched this movement for untouchable, inequality, religious belief, Brahminical thinking and injury to Hindu evil, whose first phase was the movement of non-Brahmins.

This movement got strong success in the non -castes of Tamil Nadu and the politics born from Dravid pride sat in the public.

BJP is dominated by Sanskrit in Hindutva politics but Dravid is dominated by Tamil culture in politics. Dravid considers Tamil language and culture to be superior. However, PM Modi has tried to bridge this gap and he is seen speaking Tamil Namaskar and Tamil poems on many forums.

The Dravidian politics of Tamil Nadu is considered to be from Sanskrit. That is why Hindi is opposed in Tamil Nadu and the major political party there keeps DMK BJP accusing Tamils of imposing Hindi. Due to these basic differences, BJP gets a tough competition from Dravidian politics.

Currently, communal tension on Thiruparnakundram hill has the ability to give a decisive role in the results of the surrounding constituencies, the issue of political alliances in the upcoming elections, voters’ priorities and electoral campaigns.
