The matter of the controversial statement of Allahabad High Court judge Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav has reached the Supreme Court. Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJAR) has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India complaining about this.
In this letter, a demand has been made for an in-house investigation into the statement of Allahabad High Court judge Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav. It has been demanded in the letter that the Justice should be kept away from all judicial work till the investigation is conducted.
In fact, Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav had said that he has no hesitation in saying that this country will run according to the wishes of the majority of people living in India. This is the law, the law, of course, works according to the majority. Look at it in the context of family or society, only that which is beneficial for the welfare and happiness of the majority will be accepted.
Let us tell you that Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav had given this controversial statement while speaking on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in a program of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Prayagraj. On this occasion, another judge of the High Court, Justice Dinesh Pathak was also present.
Without naming the Muslim community, Judge Shekhar Yadav said that practices like having multiple wives, triple talaq and Halala are unacceptable. If you say that our personal law allows this, then it will not be accepted. You cannot insult a woman who has been recognized as a goddess in our scriptures and Vedas. You cannot claim the right to have four wives, practice Halala or triple talaq. You say, we have the right to give triple talaq and not to give maintenance to women but this right will not work.
Justice Yadav had said that UCC is not something that is supported by VHP, RSS or Hindu religion. The top court of the country also talks about this.
