Police have detained three people from Delhi to perform religious rituals at Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The arrested people were trying to perform havan and puja there. Officials said that keeping in mind the prayers of Friday, heavy security arrangements were already made around the mosque.

According to the report of the news agency, SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi confirmed the detention, saying, “Three people came from a car and were caught near the disputed site and taken to the police station. Action will be taken against them for breach of public peace, along with, they will also be warned not to enter the future in future.

What did the arrested accused say?

At the same time, one of the detained accused, Sanatan Singh claimed, ‘We came to the Vishnu Harihar temple to perform havan and yagna, but the police caught us, if there could be prayers, then why can’t we worship?’

At the same time, another accused, Veer Singh Yadav said, ‘We came to Sambhal Mosque to perform religious rituals, but the police stopped us.’ Third person, Anil Singh said, ‘We had reached the Harihar temple to perform Havan, when we were taken into custody.’

There has been a situation of tension in Sambhal’s Mohalla Kot Garvi about religious activities earlier. The administration has clarified that the attempt to spoil the communal harmony in any way will be strictly stopped.

Significantly, on November 24 last year, violence erupted over the survey conducted on the court’s order in the royal Jama Masjid, in which four people died. Many people were injured in this violence, including security personnel.

The court, while hearing the petition, ordered a survey, claiming that the mosque was located at the site of a demolished Hindu temple. There has been communal tension in Sambhal since this incident. The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and warned that strict action will be taken on any kind of inflammatory activity.
