In fact, on Wednesday, an 8th class student was asked by her teacher to remove the tilak from her forehead and said that it is not allowed in the school. The student obeyed the teacher and went to class, but later she told her parents about this. On Thursday, his parents along with Hindu organizations reached the school to protest.

Principal expressed regret after protest from Hindu organizations

Rajiv Bhatnagar, president of the Hindu group involved in the protest, said, ‘The teacher should not have forced the girl to remove the tilak. Applying tilak is a Hindu tradition. How can a Hindu be stopped from wearing it?’ The matter was resolved after the school principal apologized to the girl’s parents and protesting Hindu groups including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal and Rashtriya Hindu Shakti Sangathan. Meanwhile, Director General of School Education Jharna Kamthan has asked the Chief Education Officer of Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand to investigate the matter.
