New tensions are emerging after the meeting between the US and Ukraine on Friday. During the talks, the Trump administration has demanded an important gas pipeline, which Ukrainian officials are seeing as “colonial pressure”. According to the report, during the discussions related to this demand, the US has predicted control of this pipeline through the International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC).
The pipeline goes from Sudjha in western Russia to Ujhorod, located close to the Slovakian border and is considered important for Russian gas supply to Europe. However, this pipeline is closed from January 1. After the end of the agreement between Ukraine and Russia, the gas supply was stopped in the pipeline, and the transit fee of crores of euros received to the two countries was also disrupted.

What does America want from Ukraine?
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has offered an agreement under which American companies will get access to Ukraine’s huge mineral resources, such as rare earth metals, oil and gas, but the agreement will be without a weapon or safety guarantee compared to before.
America is warning Ukraine
According to Trump, last year Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky raised the US as a possibility of giving US access to Ukraine’s underdeveloped mineral sector. Trump has expressed displeasure over the speed of the talks and accused Jailonsky of withdrawing from the agreement. He warned the Ukrainian leader that if he did not sign, he would have to face “big problems”.

Did the President say Jailonski?
On these entire matters, President Jelnesky said, “I am only protecting Ukraine’s rights. It should be beneficial for both America and Ukraine. It is the right thing.” He said that he is ready to modernize Ukraine’s infrastructure, but he said that the revenue shares should be “50-50”.
