US President Donald Trump will postpone the tariff to be imposed on Canada’s imports for about 30 days. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has given this information on Monday. This announcement has been made after the phone conversation between the two leaders twice. A day earlier, the US had imposed a heavy tariff of 25 percent, which poses a threat of trade war.
Trudeau said the US President agreed to stop the tariff for about 30 days, as Ottawa promised more cooperation on the border concerns raised by Trump and agreed to promote border security efforts.
Donald Trump on Saturday directed to impose a 25 percent tariff on most of imports from Canada, Mexico and 10 percent tariffs on China, citing national security concerns related to illegal immigration and drug trafficking. This decision was to be implemented from midnight on Tuesday. Canada and Mexico spoke of counter -tariffs in retaliation.
Tariff stopped on Mexico too
Prior to Canada, the President of Mexico said that he spoke to Trump and has agreed to stop Tariff on Mexico for one month with immediate effect. President Sheenbam said that Mexico will immediately deploy 10,000 national guards on the border to avoid smuggling of drugs in the US.
President Sheenbam said that he and Trump agree to continue the conversation, but there is no meeting between the two leaders at the moment. On the other hand, Trump also confirmed this short-term agreement with the Mexican President and stated that the tariff has been stopped for one month with immediate effect.
