Two Canadians of Indian origin arrested in cocaine smuggling – Indian origin Canadians arrested in 40 million dollar cocaine bust in US ntc

Illinois State Police on Friday seized cocaine worth more than $40 million from a semi-trailer truck near the Iowa state border and arrested two Indian-origin Canadian citizens. The arrested persons have been identified as 27-year-old Vanshpreet Singh and 36-year-old Manpreet Singh, both residents of Ontario, Canada. Both have been charged with serious charges of possession of cocaine, intent to sell cocaine and cocaine smuggling.

Police said the arrest occurred during a vehicle search in Henry County. A state police official said that during the investigation of the semi-trailer truck, “indications of criminal activity” were found. After which a thorough search was conducted. During the search, 1,146 pounds of cocaine was seized, with an estimated street value of more than $40 million. This recovery is considered a major success for the police.

Illinois State Police Director Brandon Kelly said in a statement, “Our police team is focused on drug trafficking, and is helping keep dangerous drugs out of our communities. This action is part of our efforts to Crime and drug smuggling can be controlled.”

Both Vanshpreet and Manpreet have been booked into the Henry County Jail and will soon make their first court appearance. Police officials said that the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to identify other possible involved persons. This arrest can prove important in identifying and cracking down on smuggling networks. Police are seeing this action as a strict step against smuggling and crime.
