UGC bars three universities in Rajasthan from offering PhD courses over integrity issue

If you are thinking of doing PhD from three universities of Rajasthan, then be careful. The University Grant Commission (UGC) has banned three universities of Rajasthan from conducting PhD. According to officials, the universities of Rajasthan which have been banned from giving PhD admissions were not following the rules of UGC. The integrity of the degrees in these universities has been compromised.

The universities which have been banned by the UGC include OPJS University, Churu, Sunrise University, Alwar and Singhania University, Jhunjhunu. Commission (UGC) has banned these universities from conducting PhD for five years.

UGC Chairman M Jagadish Kumar said, “We are also in the process of examining the quality of PhD programs in some other universities. If they are found violating PhD norms, action will be taken against them also. Such erring institutions It is necessary to identify and prevent them from admitting PhD students. We must ensure that the integrity and global reputation of Indian higher education is not compromised.”

UGC Secretary Manish Joshi said, “A standing committee of the UGC has found that the universities have not followed the provisions of the UGC’s PhD Regulations and the academic criteria for awarding the PhD degree. The universities were found to be compromising the integrity of the degree. And they have been barred from admitting new PhD students for the next five years.”

“Prospective students and parents are advised not to take admission in the PhD programs offered by these universities as their degrees will not be recognized or considered valid for the purpose of higher education and employment,” he said.
