The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday announced that the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) exam scheduled to be held on January 15 has been postponed due to Makar Sankranti and other festivals including Pongal. The examination for admission to PhD, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment as assistant professors is being conducted from January 3 to January 16 in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects.
New date not announced yet
NTA Director (Examination) Rajesh Kumar said, ‘NTA has received representations to postpone the examination on January 15 due to festivals including Pongal and Makar Sankranti. In the interest of the candidates, the examination has been postponed and a new date will be announced later. He said, ‘On January 16, the examination will be conducted as per the pre-determined schedule.’
Exam was to be held on these subjects
The examination was to be conducted on January 15 for 17 subjects, including Mass Communication and Journalism, Sanskrit, Nepali, Law, Japanese, Women’s Studies, Malayalam, Urdu, Konkani, Criminology, Folk Literature, Electronic Science, Environmental Science and Indian Knowledge System. Were involved.
Last year also the UGC-NET exam was postponed because the Education Ministry had received information that there could be irregularities in the exam. NTA said that candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official notifications for updates regarding the rescheduled examination.
