Patanjali will buy 50 thousand tons of turmeric every year

DM said that the medicinal properties of turmeric here are much higher than other places. These are produced and marketed by regional farmers, but thousands of farmers here do not get fair prices for their produce. Traders from states like Punjab and Haryana buy turmeric from the farmers here at cheap prices and sell it further at higher prices. On Saturday, an agreement was signed with Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved Limited Company for the sale and marketing of 45,000-50,000 tonnes of turmeric at the rate of 20 to 25 tonnes per hectare per year in an area of about 2000 hectares, which will benefit the farmers of the district.

He said that on the instructions of CM Adityanath, this initiative has been taken with the aim of increasing the income of the farmers of the district and their all-round development. The use of Bahraich turmeric in Ayurvedic medicines will soon get recognition at the national and global level. DM also informed that arrangements are being made in Bahraich, Lucknow and Patanjali (Haridwar) to provide training to turmeric producing farmers to improve their quality as per the requirement of Ayurveda.
