Adding yet another unique role to her repertoire, Alia Bhatt played the head-strong sister in the Vasan Bala directorial. JigraWhile the film failed to meet expectations, Alia and her onscreen brother Vedang Raina did receive quite a bit of appreciation for their characters. Sharing his experience of making the film and working with the actress, the filmmaker made a few revelations.
Vasan Bala reveals why every filmmaker ‘will suffer’ after they work with Alia Bhatt; says, “They will be spoiled”
During an interview with Mashable India, as the filmmaker Vasan Bala recalled his memories of Jigrahe was shown a photo of a light moment between the filmmaker and the leading lady of the film, Alia Bhatt. Walking down memory lane, Bala opened up about the memory associated with the picture, as he said, “I clearly remember this day. Because our film was so intense, we barely laughed on sets and I was quiet in my director zone. Usually, sets are funny, but this film lacked humor so the environment on the set used to remain quiet serious. This one day, we had a lighter day and we were just chit chatting and laughing.”
Further, he went on to appreciate the work ethics of the actress and how she can spoil a filmmaker with her sincerity and hard working nature. “I think every director who I love should get an opportunity to work with Alia Bhatt. They will be spoiled and then unki agli film mein band bajegi (Their next film will definitely suffer),” Bala shared as he went on to add, “She has no entourage, nothing, she is always ready. Sometimes I didn’t even have to communicate how I want a scene, a gesture from my end would be enough for her to understand what I needed in that shot.”
Jigra revolves around a troubled young woman who must rescue her brother from a foreign prison, after he is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. Starring Alia Bhatt as the protagonist and marking the debut theatrical release of Vedang Raina, the film is produced by Dharma Productions.
