DM Mangala Prasad Singh arrived to conduct a surprise inspection of the ongoing drain construction work by the municipality in Housing Development Colony in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. Seeing the negligence in the quality of work by the contractor, the DM suddenly got angry. After this he reprimanded the EO and engineer of the municipality present there. Also instructed to improve the quality of work.
In fact, even after more than two months, the drain could not be constructed in Awas Vikas Colony located on Nagheta Road in Hardoi city, whereas this drain should have been constructed in 60 days. Due to lack of drain, water from houses started accumulating on the main roads, due to which, after several accidents, DM Hardoi Mangala Prasad Singh suddenly arrived to inspect the construction work. Seeing the stone lids installed on the newly constructed drains, he called the concerned contractor and said, ‘Whether these lids are small or big, couldn’t you have mixed them equally? Look at this lid, it’s open. Do you guys put lids like this? How would you feel if these were installed in front of your house?

When the DM moved ahead, he saw that all the drain covers in front of a house were open. When the DM asked the EO of the municipality why the lids were not installed, the municipal engineer said that the owner of the house had refused to do so. On this the DM said, if he has refused, then you have accepted that such a drain will remain open in front of someone’s house. Get it covered.

At the same time, when the DM proceeded to see the long and wide drain, he expressed his displeasure on not seeing the finishing and said why there is no finishing in your work. It seems you have just tried to whitewash. Showing it to the engineer, he asked why it was made crooked. It is your job to install shuttering. We need a good drain. Meanwhile, the DM reprimanded the EO and the engineer. Also instructed to improve the quality of work and told the engineer and contractor that they will sink it in this drain. You will be alright.

Hardoi DM Mangala Prasad Singh said, we are standing on Nagheta Road, where the municipality is building a 220 meter long drain. During inspection, it was found that the connectivity of the drain was poor, due to which water was not draining properly. I have given instructions to increase the number of pump sets for water extraction. The quality of construction also needs improvement. Especially in the finishing of the drain, wall thickness and quality of the lid. These flaws will be rectified as soon as possible.
