Vivek Oberoi recently reflected on the lowest point of his career. After a strong start in Bollywood, his film career declined following a public feud with Salman Khan. Turning to business, Vivek used his earnings to support his passion for acting. In a recent interview, he also shared experiencing difficult times, including receiving threat calls from the underworld.
Vivek Oberoi opens up about threats from the underworld: “I’d never experienced anything like this in my life”
Vivek Oberoi, during an appearance on Dr. Jai Madaan’s YouTube channel, opened up about a challenging phase in his career. He said, “There was a time when I entered a conflict zone in my career, and because of that, I faced a lot of financial strain. I was very stressed. I would get calls from the underworld. I would get threats. And I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. All of this happened together.”
Vivek Oberoi reflected on his public feud with Salman Khan and its profound impact on his life. He shared, “It was an emotional response. I was very young. I understood the repercussions and consequences of my actions much later. I was fine with dealing with the consequences of my actions, but I was bothered when my parents were threatened. My dad would pick up the phone and someone would threaten him; my mother would answer the phone and someone would threaten her. I was scared for my sister. Initially, we thought that they were prank calls. But later, the police confirmed that the threats were very real.”
Vivek Oberoi didn’t go into detail about the nature of the threats but mentioned they were made “to cut him to size.” He added, “During that time, I also went through a tough phase in my relationship… Many people showed their support in their own way. I prefer appreciating others, even for small gestures. Expectation is the root cause of pain.”
In Bollywood, many actors have faced boycotts, causing them to fade from the limelight. However, Vivek Oberoi is one actor who, despite experiencing a boycott, managed to rise above it and build a successful career. On the film front, he will soon be seen in fun 4 and has two more projects lined up.
