US President Donald Trump on Monday announced that the US and Iran have started a direct discussion on Tehran’s nuclear program. Trump gave this information after Iran refuses to join direct conversation.
Trump told the media at the Oval office during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ‘We are talking directly with Iran and this conversation has started. It will be on Saturday. We have a very big meeting and we will see what can happen.
‘It would be better to compromise’
Trump said that the talks with Iran on Saturday will be at a very high level. I hope. Everyone will agree that it would be better to compromise. However, he refused to give detailed information about this dialogue. And expressed the possibility that the talks could be compromised.
There will be a bad day for Iran
At the same time, Trump said in the Oval Office on Monday, “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and if the talks are not successful, I think it will be a very bad day for Iran.”
America-Iran Tension
In fact, on March 5, US President Trump sent a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei, in which the results of military action were warned of the conversation.
In an interview, Trump said, ‘I have written a letter to him, which said,’ I hope you will talk because if we had to move military, it will be a dangerous situation. Since then Trump has tightened the sanctions and indicated potential military attacks by the US or Israel on Iran’s nuclear installations, while continuing to advocate diplomatic dialogues.
Iran rejected America proposal
At the same time, the Iranian President Masood Pageshkian dismissed the direct conversation with the US on Tehran’s nuclear program.
In a statement during the cabinet meeting, Pageshkian said, “We do not avoid the conversation. This is a promise, due to which problems have arisen for us till now. They have to prove that they can establish trust.”
Iran has long said that its program is for peaceful purposes, even though its officials are constantly threatening to make bombs. Under the original 2015 nuclear deal, Iran was allowed to enrich uranium up to 3.67% purity and maintain uranium reserves of 300 kg (661 pounds).
The final report of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran’s program described its reserves as 8,294.4 kg (18,286 pounds), as it enriches a fraction of it to 60% purity.
What does intelligence agency say
American intelligence agencies assess that Iran has not yet started any weapon program, yet it has started activity that will take it closer to developing nuclear weapons.
