10 year defense deals

After the meeting of PM Modi and President Trump, a joint press conference took place, in which the center of attraction was a plan to sign a 10-year structure for the major defense partnership between the US-India. The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen bilateral defense relations among the security challenges coming out, which will strengthen the commitment of close cooperation of the two countries. Let us tell you what India got in this important meeting of PM Modi and Trump.

, Both sides accepted the increasing integration of US defense systems in India’s army, including the following aircraft.

1. C-130J Super Hercules

2. C-17 Globmaster-III

3. P-8 i Posidon

4. CH-47F Chinook

6. AH-64E Apache

, To further strengthen India’s firepower and monitoring capabilities, the US Harpoon will expand the sale of anti-ship missiles, M777 Howitzer and MQ-9B drones.

, Both sides also announced new purchases and co-production agreements. India is going to buy a Javelin anti-tank guided missile, striker infantry combat vehicle and 6 additional P-8i sea patrol aircraft to increase monitoring in the Indian Ocean.

India also got this great provision

During the meeting, Trump said that from this year we will increase India’s military sales. The US and India have agreed to review the rules of transfer of arms, recognizing India as a major defense partner and strategic trade authority-1 (STA-1) holder. It also includes International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR). The move aims to simplify defense trade, technology transfer and maintenance of military equipment provided by the US in India.

Technology transfer for the GE-F414 jet engine is also expected to rise, which will jointly produce General Electric and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under a historic deal announced last year.

Jet engine will also be delayed

India is facing delays in getting jet engines for its Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mark 1 and Mark 2, partly due to global supply chain disruption. By finalizing the deal, the LCA Mark 2 program will accelerate, which aims to replace India’s old Mirage-20,000, Jaguar and MiG-29 fighter jets.

Negotiations will be held for this agreement

The two will also begin dialogue for mutual defense procurement (RDP) agreement between the countries, align the purchase systems and facilitate the exchange of defense goods and services.
