A unique incident came to light in the Amrita Haat fair held in Barmer, Rajasthan. During the inspection of the fair, Government Secretary Mahendra Soni asked the name of the girl standing at the stall and she told her name to be Tina Dabi. Hearing this, a fountain of laughter erupted among all the officers. The reason for this is that this is also the name of the District Collector.
In fact, the Women and Child Development Department has organized Amrita Haat fairs in the state from January 1 to 5. In the five-day Amrita Haat fair, stalls of their products have been set up by women’s self-help groups from all the districts of the state. This event has also been organized in Barmer at Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Station Road.
Secretary of Women and Child Development Department and senior IAS officer Mahendra Soni had reached Barmer to visit this Haat fair. Meanwhile, the IAS officer while walking asked the name of the girl standing at a stall of bags and purses. The girl told her name as ‘Tina Dabi’.
Shocked, Secretary Soni asked the name again, then the girl repeated the same. Meanwhile, everyone including Deputy Director of Women Empowerment Department Prahlad Singh Rajpurohit, District ADM Rajendra Singh Chandawat and SDM Veeramaram laughed.
The girl was stunned to see the officers laughing when she told her name and said, Tina is my name and Dabi is my gotra. Then Deputy Director Prahlad Singh took charge and said, Collector Madam’s name is also Tina Dabi, that is why it happened. There is nothing wrong in this. It is your right to keep your name…”
While observing, Government Secretary of Women and Child Development Department, Mahendra Soni said that excellent work is being done by women in the field of handicrafts. He appealed to the local residents to purchase the products prepared by women self-help groups.
In Amrita Haat fairs, women of self-help groups sell handmade products like pickles, murabba, mango papad, make-up items, meenakari, sarees, suits, puja items, home decor items, marble sculptures, jute items including pure Native quality jaggery has been brought for sale.
