New Delhi: The Purple Cap is given to the bowler who takes the most wickets in every season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It started in the first season of the tournament 2008. During the season, the highest wicket -taker in the tournament wears purple cap during fielding. After the tournament is over, any bowler who is at the top in the most wicket -taking list gets this honor. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel have won the purple cap twice. Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel took the 2013 and 2021 32 wickets of the Indian Premier League respectively, the highest for any bowler in a season of the tournament.
