Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi really be able to play IPL at the age of 13, what do the rules say, know everything – vaibhav suryavanshi eligible to play at 13 for rajasthan royals in check what the ipl rule says
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a minimum age policy for international cricket, under which a player must be at least 15 years of age to play for an international team. However, the concerned cricket board can take NOC from ICC to field a player of even younger age, but till date this has not happened. But there is no age restriction in IPL, it depends on the franchise as to whom they want to play and who not. However, the chances of Vaibhav Suryavanshi getting a chance to play for the Pink Army in IPL 2025 are slim to none. By being with the great Rahul Dravid and Kumar Sangakkara, he can understand the nuances of the game.
Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Suryavanshi, who hails from Samastipur in Bihar, made his debut against Mumbai in the 2023–24 Ranji Trophy season when he was 12 years 284 days old as per official records, making him the youngest player in the history of the tournament. At the age of 12, he played Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Bihar and scored close to 400 runs in five matches. Suryavanshi recently scored a century in the Youth Test for India Under-19 team against Australia Under-19 team in Chennai and also became the youngest player to achieve this credit. Suryavanshi had scored 104 runs in 62 balls in that match.
Controversy over age!
However, Suryavanshi’s actual age was controversial before his Ranji Trophy debut in January this year when a video interview of his from last year went viral, in which he had said that he would turn 14 in September 2023. Suryavanshi was asked what his real age was, to which he said, ‘I will complete 14 years on 27 September 2023.’
