But Rashmika had to face many questions after playing the role of a hero’s wife who was out of the league and playing the role of a villain-like hero’s wife.
Rashmika played the character of Geetanjali in Animal, a lot of questions were raised on how she fell in love with an alpha male character who only knows bloodshed. In such a situation, it seems right to cheat in the relationship. Whereas in Pushpa 2, the character of Srivalli is whose husband is a smuggler and kills people brutally. Despite this, Srivalli supports him.
‘Know how to respect women’
Rashmika broke her silence on all these issues and told why she did not step back from playing these two characters. In an interview given to Siddharth Kanan, Rashmika said that she was grateful that she got the opportunity to play it. Because Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Pushpa director Sukumar both know how to respect their female characters. Also shared his experience.
Rashmika said- Sukumar and Sandeep sir know how to respect women. They do not see women as poor and in need of help. They know women are powerful, they are strong. That is reflected in his stories. Just look at the character of Gitanjali of Animal and Srivalli of Pushpa. Both these characters knew that Ranvijay and Pushpa were killing 200 people outside. But both my characters (Srivalli and Geetanjali) knew how to stand with them courageously at that time. They were women who raised their voice.
“How Sukumar and Sandeep know that women can still support their partners, because they know how to respect women, they are aware of their capabilities. If you go deeper you will see how much love and respect has been given. Because of this I have also been able to play it. I have also played such characters before where a female needed help. Where the hero needed to save me. So I feel it is an honor for me to play this character.
What is the difference between Shrivalli and Geetanjali?
Rashmika also told the difference between the character of Shrivalli and Geetanjali. Rashmika took a gap of one year between the two films. The actress said- Geetanjali is such that even if her partner does wrong, she will not remain silent. She knows how to raise her voice for herself even in front of her partner. Like I am too. If we talk about Srivalli, she will not sit silent, she will do anything if anyone tries to harm her family. These two characters are very close to my heart and relate to me a lot.
