Bengaluru: Mumbai Indians defeated UP Warriors by eight wickets in the Women’s Premier League match with a brilliant performance by Net Skiver Bunt and Heli Mathews’ half -centuries and bowlers. Skiver Brant took three wickets for 18 runs, on which Mumbai Indians sent UP Warriors first to bat for nine wickets to score 142 runs. After this, England’s all -rounder scored an unbeaten 75 off 44 balls which included 13 fours. He also added 133 runs in 82 balls with Mathews for the second wicket. Mathews scored 59 runs in 50 balls. Mumbai won the match in 17 overs. With the third win, Mumbai Indians are at the top with six points while UP Warriors are ranked fourth. In Mumbai’s innings, Mathews was given a life by Sophie Excellent in the beginning. After playing seven dot balls, Yastika Bhatia lost her wicket Deepti Sharma. This was followed by Mathews and Skiver Brant handled the innings, who hit Syima Thakor for three consecutive fours. Along with this, Chinale Henry scored 13 runs in one over. Matthews scored 22 runs by hitting two fours and a six to Grace Harris.

Earlier, despite Harris’ 26 balls, the UP Warriors team could score 142 runs for 9 wickets due to failure of the middle order. Harris hit six fours and two sixes in his innings when he was sent for the first batting. He added 79 runs for the second wicket with Vrinda Dinesh (33) but UP Warriors lost four wickets within just 12 runs and could not recover from this shock.

Skiver Brant took three wickets for 18 runs for Mumbai while Spinner Sanskriti Gupta took two wickets for 11 runs. Fast bowler Shabnam Ismail also got two wickets. UP Warriors lost the wicket of Kiran Navgire quickly but Harris continued to score fast from the other end. Vrinda also achieved two fours and Ismail sixes while achieving the rhythm.

In Powerplay, UP Warriors scored 62 runs for one wicket. After this, Emelia Kerr dismissed Harris in the 10th over after which no batsman could stand. UP Warriors then lost three more wickets, which included the wicket of captain Deepti Sharma. After Grace was dismissed, Sanskriti dismissed Vrinda and Tahlia Macgra for two consecutive balls while Heli Mathews dismissed Deepti in the 12th over. Skiver Brant took the wickets of Shweta Sehrawat (19) and Chiinale Henry (Seven).
